What can I say, life's good when you can get new toys for leisure time. Though I've been producing music for ages, I've only recently gotten into DJ'ing and up to now I've always had to rely on other people's setup.

I have various mixes that I've recorded over the past few months on my podcast page, however since I don't have any practice, many nights turn out to be a roulette game as to whether the mixes turn out OK. The first variable in the mix is usually the setup of the respective venue. Everyone I know used Rane's Serato and where I love the fact that you can mix digital and analog, I personally don't see myself spending around $1000-$1500 to get my own setup. On top of that, turntables, mixer and all the other gear aren't exactly something you can stuff into your backpack so I was never really convinced I should have such a setup. 

Just in time to save me from this dilemma, Vestax released the VCI-300 which I've mentioned here before in other posts. For a while they were on back order, then most stores didn't carry them and finally in mid October they started to be a stocked order at stores such as www.pssl.com and others. I ordered it last week and after some unnecessary waiting time, I finally got the device in the mail today. 

I'm planning to start a podcast since I do have a rather sizeable digital music library and I also feel that after the last years where I nearl worked myself to death, it's time to regroup and concentrate my energy on the things that make me feel good, such as producing music. 

I plan on getting a used mackie mixer and a mic over the next few days and then i should be ready to start this. Since I'll have both my audio machines hooked up via the mixer I also plan on creating sounds I can use in the sets, from loops to full tracks of mine, blending it all together to make it flow.
